MSLC Tutoring Services

Autumn 2021 services

The MSLC offers three different types of tutoring services for mathematics courses: In-person Drop-In Tutoring, Zoom Drop-In Tutoring for math, and 55-minute Zoom Study Group Tutoring for Exams. For statistics courses, TA's hold shared office hours in both in-person and zoom formats. More Information on statistics help can be found here

Descriptions of each mathematics tutoring service are provided below so you can select the service that best meets your needs.  Students are not limited to one type of service.

Drop-In Tutoring (More information)

Drop-in tutoring is often used when students need help on some of their homework problems.  During the day, our in-person tutor rooms are a great place to work on math homework or study for exams.  Students often use the space like a library with the added benefit of a tutor or peers nearby. During the evening, our zoom tutors can help assist with homework or review questions that arise. Our tutors focus not only on helping you solve the problem at hand, but also work with you to build your understanding and knowledge to prepare you for exams.

Zoom Study Group Tutoring for Exams (More info)

Study group tutoring for exams is used as a supplement to your other exam preparations.  Study Group Tutoring occurs the day of or prior to an exam and is designed to provide students with an opportunity to study with their peers.  Students work together in groups of 3-5 on a review sheet.  Each tutor works with 3 groups and hops around the groups to facilitiate group work and assist when a group is stuck.
